Your Breath Is A Mirror
/Do you ever catch yourself not breathing? Or holding your breath? Or maybe you’re not even aware of it?
⠀⠀
Your breath will guide you to what is happening inside of you. It is your inner healer and guide.
I know it sounds silly, but after I started doing Breathwork I realized how often I was either breathing shallow, or holding my breath, or not connected what was happening in my mind, body, and heart.
⠀⠀
I learned it years ago in trauma talk therapy but I started embodying it at a whole new level once I started practicing Breathwork. My breath is a mirror for what’s happening inside of me.
The innate wisdom of my body gives me so much insight to what’s happening in my mind, heart, and spirit (I was so excited to hear @magamamas talk about this in our podcast episode.
Am I contracting? Am I open? Am I resisting? Am I receiving? Is life flowing and abundant? Or stagnant and broke? Am I experiencing dis-ease? Am I healthy? Am I expanding my belly with confidence? Am I breathing in fear? Can I fill up my heart breath knowing it’s safe to give and receive love?
When I first started @davidelliott10 Breathwork I had the typical first-time experience - cramped hands, arms raised, tight mouth, tears. Lots of tears. Nothing was wrong - my divinely intelligent breath and body and spirit were showing me where the old energy remained, and where the healing resides.
There are so many different experiences that happen when we lay down to breathe, and the reason why is because our bodies are holding all of the unconscious and conscious material that wasn’t processed and released, and that gets released in divine time.
Our body is deeply connected to our spirit through our breath. It is the vehicle that carries our soul and heart around. The body keeps the score. It is so wise. It is our ally. It tells us what needs more love, more healing, more trust, if we would just honor it.
Take a few moments intermittently throughout the day today to check in with your breath (just as much as you check in with social media or your texts).
