Why Social Distancing Feels Good

One of the things that has shocked me the most in the past month is that I don’t miss being in-person with my friends and clients as much as I thought I would. I realized I don’t miss my friends because I am an introvert, because space is imperative to me but not celebrated in our extroverted world, and because I’ve learned how to remain connected to loved ones living 3000 miles away. I’ve also realized that I don’t miss being in-person with clients and friends because I still FEEL them and connect with them even if we don’t talk or get together. There is much more to relationships than the human dimension of touching and seeing. There are other realms and realities, some which are hard for the human mind to comprehend.

Overcoming Being an Introvert to a Public Speaker

I am an introvert through and through. Regardless of what people might think or see on the outside, I was that child and adult until just recently, who got purple splotches when talking to strangers or speaking in front of a group. As a child I was too shy to talk to my teachers, extended aunts and uncles. Through my adulthood I pushed myself outside of my comfort zone but with a lot of resistance and awkward moments. So, for me to willingly register to have a booth at an expo and publically speak was short of a miracle.
