Slowing Down Helps You Succeed

I know what you're thinking 'There is no way I can slow down. I have too much to do.' It's easy to get caught up in the hustle when you are passionate about your work, have a family to take care of, spiritual practices, exercise and friendships to maintain, let alone the play dates. I know what it's like to fill up my calendar going from one task to another without scheduling time to create and allowing the magic to happen. Slowing down has helped me have more time to do these things, and I am a better coach, healer, business woman, wife and mother because of it. Here's how to slow down and the benefits to doing so.

1. Clarify and Prioritize

You have tons to do, and you're jumping from one thing to the next. Your mind is scattered and your actions are scurried. Don't you find this exhausting? You're not at your best when walking around in an exhausted haze.

When you catch yourself doing this, stop and ask 'What is the best use of my time and energy right now, in this moment?' Clarify what's your priority. Your time is precious and you deserve to be present. Your health and energy are limited and you deserve to focus only on what is important.

2. Creativity Can Flow

As working women we are bombarded with new information, tasks, relationships, families and real life. It's not uncommon to feel overloaded and like you're just trying to keep up with it all. It's okay to take a break. The best inspiration happens when you are ready to receive it.

Make a cup of tea, take a walk, look at something in nature- a bird, a flower, a tree, sit or lay down for a few moments. Don't think about the past or the future. As you connect with the elements and stillness, you build a portal for creativity to flow through you.

3. Enjoy

Focusing on the present moment allows you to connect and fully enjoy what is happening right now. Even if it's not something you like, because let's be real, does anyone enjoy doing their taxes? You can be present to what you do like about the moment. In the case of taxes, it would be being a proactive, smart and responsible business woman. This always makes me feel good and builds self trust.

Enjoy your life. You work hard. Allow yourself to stop, and take it all in. When you are fully in the present moment, you actually have more energy because you are not wasting it in your head. Life starts to feel like it has more time.

To sum things up there are benefits to slowing down. You aren't wasting time, yet instead you are actually making the most of it. You'll gain clarity, creative ideas will flow easier, and you will actually enjoy your life more. If you would like some extra help, I have developed a powerful breathing technique that can be a wonderful healing modality if you are someone who lives in your head.
