Belinda and I met through the wild world of Instagram. After meeting in real life over turmeric bowls and bone broth at Honey Hi, and a few coaching conversations later, here we are!  I can't wait to share this extraordinary woman with you. Belinda Woolfson is a kundalini teacher, life coach, filmmaker, producer, and soon to be owner of co-working Sacred Space.

Historically, Belinda spent many years as a gypsy traveling, learning a wide variety of healing modalities, and studying under accomplished coaches and spiritual teachers.  She has a background in gender competency and is dedicated to gender equality and female empowerment as a coach, storyteller, teacher, and facilitator.  She teaches meditation and kundalini yoga and produces a monthly live spiritual storytelling show called Sacred.  She is also opening a collaborative workspace for women geared towards a more feminine approach to business that will be opening its doors in LA in early 2018.

What inspired you to start your business?

I started my business because I personally felt so lost in my twenties.  I have always felt connected to purpose, but I had no idea what I was supposed to be doing.  That confusion was painful.  I was not surrounded by people who talked about things like purpose or having a calling, so I went in search of the so-called 'perfect career'.  I tried many different career paths but nothing felt quite right.  It wasn't until I returned to school for documentary storytelling that I realized my search had been surface level and superficial.  I slowly began to discover that we find our calling by deeply connecting to ourselves and the world around us....so that became my priority for many years.  I experienced such a deep meditative peace when I finally accepted my purpose was to simply be myself...that I could release the enormous pressure I was putting on myself to figure it all out and begin to trust the process.  And now I get to hold space for other women to do the exact same thing, align with what they're supposed to be doing instead of forcing it!

How does spirituality impact your business?

Spirituality is very much the foundation for my business.  I've always loved Brene Brown's definition of spirituality, “Spirituality is recognizing and celebrating that we are all inextricably connected to each other by a power greater than all of us, and that our connection to that power and to one another is grounded in love and compassion. Practicing spirituality brings a sense of perspective, meaning and purpose to our lives.”

For me spirituality has always been the path of becoming the best version of yourself and loving yourself throughout that process.

What challenges and learnings have you encountered owning your own business?

Endless challenges and learnings! Fear constantly came up in the process of starting my business.  But the difference between where I am now and where I was even two months ago, is that my trust continues to grow.  Trust in the process, trust in the universe, but most importantly trust in myself.  Trust has really been the catalyst that has allowed me to shift my perspective from fear (and often paralyzation) to love and excitement.

What three important tips you would share with a woman who is just starting a business?

If you have a feeling that you are supposed to be doing something, it's real, believe it.  You know who you are becoming.  Trust that. Stop forcing things, keep working, and surrender often. Make it fun....ask yourself as often as possible, how do I make this fun?

What would you tell the younger you who is just starting her business?

It's not supposed to be miserable.  You are so supported.  Trust yourself.  You know when you are operating in your magic, use that as your guide!

What has been your biggest challenge and how did you overcome?

Acceptance.  I was looking for acceptance from outside of myself for a long time.  Someone to look me in the eyes and say, I see you and you're everything you think you are and more.  Basically I was looking for permission to finally put myself out into the world confidently, you know use my voice, take up space.  But I finally had to realize that the person I imagined giving me permission and satisfying acceptance was NEVER going to show up.  The only person who could do that for me.....was me.  And that was hard because I had to take a look at all the stories I had been carrying around for so long that kept me from fully believing that.   It's something I'm still working on.  But I've gotten better at recognizing when I'm standing in my own way.  And in case you're also waiting for someone to say it to you....YOU ARE EXACTLY WHO YOU KNOW YOU ARE BECOMING!

What would you want to see or learn more about from my business?

I love what you're doing!  Definitely the moon circles!  The moon and astrology plays a big role in my life.

What project are you most excited about right now?

I am so excited to open Sacred Space, the collaborative work space for women.  The space is everything I believe in!  That we don't need to hustle, we can align with our purpose and flow.  We don't need to do it alone, we can be supported and loved by community!  That we don't need to be cutthroat, we can embrace abundance!  And that the whole process of starting or running a business can be fun!
